About the movie

On May 1, 2021, fifteen college film students set off to shoot their Senior project. What happened to them that night was a tragedy. “The Devil’s Stomping Ground” is the edited version of the footage those students shot, then left behind. It is a cautionary tale about temptation, pushing your luck, and the inevitable consequences of being oblivious to your surroundings.

Robert Johansen

Robert Johansen’s devotion to Jesus Christ and his commitment to leading a life in service of Christ’s teachings is what led him to seminary school. And while Robert’s passion is his theology, he has always wanted to try his hand at acting in a movie. His close relationship with his cousin, and co-star, Kelly MacDonald, exposed him to the great fun acting could be, at an early age. As children, Kelly would create scenarios and recruit Robert into playing along. He enjoyed it and was excited to have the opportunity to finally do some movie acting.

Ginger Mordeciello

Ginger is the daughter of a well-known internet psychic and medium, Morticia Mordeciello. From what I gather from Morticia, Ginger fell out of the womb with a hilarious slapstick routine and never stopped acting after that. Morticia claims that Ginger’s first words were literally, “close up.” She credits a documentary on Orson Wells for that breakthrough. Upon watching the footage and now seeing her work, it is impossible not to see her star qualities shining through.

Drew Highsmith

The most obviously notable thing about Drew Highsmith (besides his involvement in this project), is that he actually won “SkateShredder of the Year” when he was 13 years old. He actually achieved quite a bit of notoriety from that accomplishment and one could assume that his interest in acting may have come from some of the adulations he received with that experience. Drew’s performance in this film is an example of great casting. He was perfect for this role and Kelly MacDonald, the casting director, did a fantastic job making that call.

Kelly MacDonald

Harmony, North Carolina never produced a more popular citizen than Kelly MacDonald. She became a local heroine at the age of 9 when she single-handedly stood up to an older boy who was bullying a disabled kid at school. From there she would become the only person to ever win Harmony High School Student Body President 4 years in a row. Her popularity would follow with her as she rode a full cheerleading scholarship to UNC-W. Her life’s dream was always to be an actress and with “The Devil’s Stomping Ground” she finally got to fulfill that dream.
